Oracle JD Edwards VM Templates

Oracle JD Edwards VM Templates up and running beautifully on JDEFusion servers!

BUT...

We cannot find them at e-delivery anymore.

They became "obsolete" and it's not possible to download directly on e-delivery. You must request the media pack from Oracle Support to be able to get those as shown on OTN thread below:

https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2398741&tstart=0

I'm not sure yet if Oracle is working in a new set of templates with 9.1 version, but I know they're working hard on VM server side and did an update from 3.0.3 to 3.1.1. I tested the new version and the new visual (using ADF standards) is more intuitive and once you have the VM concept, it's really easy the migration.

BUT...

You'll need an ULN account to be able to update your VM Server through YUM repositories, otherwise you'll not be able to do so. They released a patch for the Server Manager, which you may download, but you cannot get the patch for the Server itself unless you have an Unbreakable Linux Network account!

The conclusion is: while we don't have the e-delivery downloads available, I'm putting on-hold the JD Edwards VM Templates installation tutorial,

BUT...

I'm still available to help in case you get the VM Templates files from Oracle and you get in trouble. It took me some time - and hard work - to get trough the VM Templates philosophy, but once you have the concepts, you'll be able to do it so fast, actually you'll need a few hours!

Happy 4th of July!

  1. I have downloaded the templates and have imported them into OVM 3.1.1 but am having some trouble starting them up. We're you able to get these up and running ?

  2. 9.1 VM templates are not available yet and no communications from Oracle.
Is it good idea to install 9.0 templates then upgrade to 9.1?

    1. Hi,

I've been talking with some people at Oracle and they said they're working in the 9.1 VM Templates. I asked for an estimate, but they couldn't precise the release date, but I'm pretty sure it will be released soon.

Depending on your demand, I'd recommend to wait, since we don't have the VM Templates available for download on e-delivery anymore.

You can get the media pack for Oracle VM Templates for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne by following the process outlined in My Oracle Support Document 1071023.1 “How to Request Physical Shipment or FTP download of Software Media.”

Request delivery of the media pack B62414-03 “Oracle VM Templates for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 Update 2 and Tools 8.98.4.1 Media Pack for x86 (64 bit)".

JD Edwards Certification

Hello everybody! I'm back after a while with some interesting news about a theme that is not discussed in some years for JD Edwards: Certification . First I have a question:  - Do you know exactly if Oracle has a Certification program focused on JDE? Just try to google it and see what happens... Not so good news, right??  I could see in many posts and comments only bad things about certification and in one blog comment, someone said that Oracle wants to terminate JDE and that JDE has only more 5 years to exist!! OH My!!! Of course they're WRONG!! Since December 1st 2009, Oracle HAS a Certification program to JDE! No, I'm not kidding!! Well, it's not so easy to find, but, after many years (2003 was the last one?) we got our first certification program for Financials. So why do you care about JD Edwards certification??? It's simple: CREDIBILITY! For the professional: The Oracle Certified Specialist branded credentials are typically founda...
