JD Edwards Mobile Smart Phone Applications

This February I had the opportunity to be at JD Edwards Summit here in Denver I want to talk to you about the Mobile solutions Oracle announced. Also, I tried to get a Hands on labs session, but my laptop didn't work well, but I could see how it works to create the mobile apps for JD Edwards using Oracle Application Development Framework (aka ADF).


So, here you can see how it works in real world. Using your mobile device - in this particular case an iPhone, you can create apps style links to the JD Edwards applications - look at the arrow showing the apps. But one thing people asked a lot - and I believe they didn't understand is that you can create links for any page using a safari feature called "Add to Home Screen" so, when you open the JD Edwars mobile applications - you'll open in Safari, you can create your own "app" which is nothing more than a safari link to a web site, and in our specific case a link to a JD Edwards module.

As you can see, Oracle released four solutions which I'll call "apps":


Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Mobile Expense Management
 Streamlines expense management by enabling mobile workers to enter, submit, review and approve expense reports in real time, regardless of physical location.

Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Mobile Requisition Self Service Approval
Provides real-time transaction processing for the review, approval or rejection of requisitions.

Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Mobile Purchase Order Approval
Helps enable mobile workers to review and approve purchase orders regardless of physical location.

Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Mobile Sales Inquiry
Addresses the needs of sales representatives, service technicians and managers by providing access to sales orders, item availability and item base price on-demand.


Those apps are the first in a series of business applications for smart phones from JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in which you will take the following business advantages

  • Provides real-time access to key data and processes while away from the office, between meetings, or traveling
  • Facilitates quick action on key workflow driven approval processes
  • Offers highly intuitive user interface designed for the casual user to browse, search, edit and add key business data
  • Leverages EnterpriseOne security model
  • Multi-Device Support

    A universal message I suppose, not giving up is the formula for success I think. Some things take longer than others to accomplish, so people must understand that they should have their eyes on the goal, and that should keep them motivated to see it out till the end.
